NOTES : "Original beef stroganoff recipe" from Bull Cook and Authentic Historical Recipes and Practices, George Leonard Herter. This book is out of print (it was barely in print) but is filled with truths about the world (as George saw it anyway). George was adamant that original beef stroganoff had no sour cream, mushrooms and wasn't as thick as people seem to like it nowadays. For better or worse, here is Georges' "original" recipe for you to try and compare.
